Online Communication, Business Assessment- 90 Miles Cuban Cafe
90 Miles Cuban Cafe is a little restaurant I go to often that is about a one minute walk from my apartment in Chicago. They also have two other locations in Chicago.
I decided to research their online presence, and see that they have both a website and a Facebook page. First of all, as far as their Facebook page, I do not feel like they have a strong online presence as of today. It looks like the last post made to the page was February 5th, 2021. Almost a year ago to the day. They do however list their business information such as the addresses of their locations, the contact information, and hours of operation. The hours of operation are actually no longer correct. It is listed on Facebook as 8AM-8PM. The hours are now 9AM-9PM. Truthfully? I wished they really did open at 8AM. They serve some amazing breakfast empanadas! Since I work at 9AM I rarely get the chance during the week to get them. Sad face.
There is also a video added from when Guy Fieri visited the location closest to me. It looks like they also had quiet a few impressive pictures of their food and locations, but I think that they really could benefit from having more activity on this page. Perhaps the person who handled the activity of their Facebook page is no longer with the business.
I started with Facebook because it is much easier to see online presence. For the most part unless it was purposely added into the website's design, you can't see when a website was last updated from a glance, unlike Facebook, where everything is time/date stamped.
Their website has links at the very top, followed by "Freshlicious Cuban Food: Taste the Forbidden" Next to a picture of the Cubano sandwich, their most popular (and delicious from personal experience) order. It is followed by listing their locations, at that point a pop up for a 10% off coupon also appears. After this we see an offer that is fulfilled by purchasing a certain amount of gift cards, followed by an imbedded video of Guy Fieri's visit.
The website has a lot of information, including the story of how the business was created, and how it got it's name (which is very cool and interesting). Their menu is also listed on the website, as well as catering information, catering information, contact information, an online order option, which is actually not working, and a reservation page that does work. The link leads to Yelp!, and provides the option for a reservation, notes from the business, photos of their food, and customer reviews.
The online ordering option of the website could easily be fixed, as they do allow online pickup and delivery orders from many of the delivery services such as Doordash, and Uber Eats. You can also order from the Google search page, as I have done myself several times to have food ready by time I get there.
I can't tell when the last time the website was updated, but I do feel like they can do well with an update. As I mentioned the online order link could be updated, at this point I have noticed that it works from some parts of the site, and does not work from others. I think it could also use a design update as well.
This is a really wonderful restaurant, and in conclusion, I feel like their online presence does not own up to this, and really should.
